Apply the ointment locally, 1 or 2 times a day, on the skin properly washed and dried. For its astringent and decongestant action it can also be used on irritated skin (e.g. diaper dermatitis). Apply a layer of ointment to cover the affected area (especially when used to treat diaper dermatitis); in case of uninfected burns and skin lesions, it is preferable to apply a thin layer of ointment, using a bandage if necessary. Perform on the affected area a slight circular massage, so as to obtain a partial absorption of the ointment, following which remains a white opaque residue.Conservation

The medicinal product must be used only for external use; may be harmful if ingested (see paragraph 4.9). Avoid contact of the drug with the eyes; in case of accidental contact, wash abundantly with water. Do not use the medicine in case of burns or potentially infected wounds. If the ointment is used for diaper dermatitis, check that the best rash within a few days; if not, it is necessary to resort to a different treatment. The use, especially if prolonged, of medicines for local use can give rise to phenomena of irritation or awareness. In such a case, it is necessary to stop treatment and establish suitable therapy. Important information about some excipients: – Parahydroxybenzoate (E218): may cause allergic reactions (also delayed).Interactions

Below are the undesirable effects of zinc oxide organized according to the organic systemic classification MedDRA. No sufficient data is available to determine the frequency of the individual effects listed. Immune system disorders Allergic/hypersensitivity reaction: rash, hives, itching and/or swelling (especially of the face, tongue, throat, lips), sense of chest oppression, difficulty breathing. Pathologies of skin and subcutaneous tissue Skin irritation. Burn, tingling and dark spots of the skin.Overdosing
No overdose cases have been reported. The poor percutaneous absorption of the drug makes it unlikely to occur symptoms and overdose signs. In case of accidental ingestion, the following symptoms may be found: diarrhea, nausea and vomiting, hypoglycemia, confusion, fatigue, lethargy, bleeding, jaundice, dark coloring of urine, cough, shivers and fever, oral cavity irritation, kidney disorders, copper deficiency.Generally, the use of ointment in pregnancy and nursing is considered safe if applied to restricted areas and for short periods of time. Pregnancy Clinical data relating to exposed pregnancy are not available for ointment zinc oxide. This medicinal product, if used in accordance with the methods of use, is not absorbed and therefore does not determine systemic effects; in case of skin, it can be absorbed in minimum quantities. Food Data on the use of zinc ointment during breastfeeding are not available and is not known if this active ingredient passes into breast milk. However, since the absorption of the drug can be considered negligible, it is very unlikely that relevant quantities reach breast milk.
