Durafiber

CE medical device, class IIb sterile dressing (range quantities) in gelling etylsulphonated cellulose fibers.
Useful in case of management of chronic and acute wounds, partial, total, or surface granules. For example, lower limb ulcers, pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers, surgical wounds, wounds that cause second intention, skin picking sites, fistulas and tunneled wounds, partial thick burns, traumatic wounds and bleeding wounds such as mechanically or surgically fastened wounds.
The product does not contain natural resins and rubbers (lattice) that represent an allergen potential.
Available in various sizes:
5 cm x 5 cm pack of 10 dressings, 10 cm x 10 cm pack of 10 dressings, 15 cm x 15 cm pack of 5 dressings, 2 cm x 45 cm pack of 5 dressings.

Mechanism of action
The treatment of etilsulphonation, as well as other chemical processes to which cellulose fibres (e.g. carboxylation) can be subjected, makes the resulting Cellulose EtilSolfonata (ESC) absorbent and gelling agent. In contact with the exudate, the ESC dressing absorbs it vertically, controlling its lateral dispersion; gels and traps in its structure both the exudate and the bacteria contained in it. This reduces the risk of maceration and avoids fluid leakage, even under compression. The gelification of the fibers allows the dressing to conform to the surface of the injury, keeping evenly a humid environment for healing on the bed of the wound and reducing the empty spaces where the bacteria could proliferate. The particular process of chemical treatment also makes the gelled dressing not subject to shrinkage and very resistant to traction: even in case of application in cavities or phystolosis traits, the dressing does not break easily during removal from wounds.

Composition and structure
Physics in etilsulphonated cellulose fibres. The dressing consists of a texture in TNT. The dressing absorbs and interacts with the exodus, turning into a soft transparent and hydrophilic gel. 80% etilsulphonated cellulose fibers and 20% cellulose fibers.

Mode of use
The dressing can be left in place up to 7 days or changed when clinically indicated (e.g. in case of excretion or excessive bleeding). The local clinical protocol should also be considered.

Conservation
Fresh and dry place with temperature below 25°C, away from direct light.

Format
Packs of 10 or 5 medications.
