Baobab
It is a tropical tree of the African continent renowned for its many food and pharmaceutical properties. Secular and immense dimensions, some specimens reach 5,000 years. For the African peoples Baobab is food, medicine and sacred place so much that only wise men can climb among their branches. Its name comes from the bu-hibab Arabic or “fruit from the many seeds” but is more commonly called “The Good Giant” because the products made with its pulp and its seeds contribute to rebalancing the main functions of the organism and the epidermis, giving wellness and energy. The pulp, extracted from the shell of its fruits, is rich in fibers, vitamins, minerals and amino acids. The intake of about 5 grams per day is useful to maintain the state of well-being of the body, as it regulates the intestine, blood sugar and blood cholesterol values, gives strength, energy and endurance, balances the tone of the mood and relieves menstrual disorders, moreover it is antianemic, antifebbrifuge. From the seeds of the fruit, which represent an important part of its composition (about 40 %), an oil rich in proteins and vitamins A, D and E is extracted. Oil is commonly used for the well-being of the skin, to counteract the effects of premature skin aging, due to its antioxidant, emollient, smoothing and elasticizing properties.
